Here is the list of UK Bank Holidays 2018. In United Kingdom, public holidays are commonly known as bank holidays. UK is made up of 4 different region – England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Depending upon the region public holidays in UK varies.
There are only 8 bank holidays in England and Wales which are as follows –
- New Year’s Day
- Good Friday
- Easter Monday
- Early May
- Spring Bank Holiday
- Summer Bank Holiday
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
On the other hand, in Northern Ireland there are 10 public holidays which includes holiday for St. Patrick’s Day and Orangeman’s Day. Scotland has nine bank holidays. In Scotland, summer bank holiday is in August and they celebrate St. Andrews Day on 30th November plus 2nd January is also a bank holiday. There is no holiday for Easter Monday in Scotland.

If UK bank holiday falls on weekends that is on Saturday and Sunday, then following day is a holiday that is Monday. Please remember that while banks in UK remains closed, your employer is not necessarily obligated to give you paid leave on bank holidays.
